Mrs. Sporleder so moved. Mrs. Dennen seconded <br />the motion. Approved unanimously. <br />Mr. Oxian directed Mr. Holycross to call up a C <br />of A committee. Mrs. Choitz asked who was to be <br />on the committee; Mr. Oxian said Mr. Holycross <br />would make that determination, based on which <br />Commission members were available at the chosen <br />time. He said appointing committees in advance <br />was problematical because Commission members <br />weren't always able to attend. <br />Mr. Holycross told Mr. MacHatton he would call <br />him the next day to arrange the committee <br />meeting. <br />3. 12670 SR 23-- Historic Landmark <br />Mr. Pastor reported that the owner, Mr. Tom <br />Selsor of the Berkeley Corporation, planned to <br />convert an English barn, built c. 1845, into a <br />retail space. The barn was, he said, part of <br />historic farmstead complex which included an <br />c.1836 Federal -style house. This house had <br />already been converted into a restaurant, <br />"Yesterday's." <br />Mr. Pastor submitted the owner's floor plans and <br />elevations, and summarized the staff report. <br />The renovation project consisted of three parts: <br />A. Siding <br />Replace the c. 1919 siding in -kind. <br />B. Windows & Doors <br />Build doors to match the 1875 elevation, as <br />depicted in the St. Joseph historic atlas, and <br />fix them in place; replace two front medallions <br />with round lights of the same size, to let light <br />into the loft area; replace existing openings on <br />the sides with similar -size windows; and add <br />windows and air -lock entry to rear, to be <br />arranged around an existing support post. <br />C. Site <br />Open area to the rear, to be paved for parking. <br />Mr. Herendeen asked whether the barn's mural <br />would be saved. Mr. Selsor said no; all the <br />siding would be removed. Mrs. Sporleder asked <br />why the old siding was being replaced. Mr. <br />Selsor said the siding was badly deteriorated, <br />letting in light on all sides.
