NEW BUSINMS (Cont.) <br />a. continued.... <br />to add the property to the acquisition list. <br />The next step is to get two appraisals, then <br />authorize a purchase offer based on the <br />appraisals. The purchase offer would be <br />sent to Mr. Smith. He could then accept <br />or reject the purchase offer. The <br />Redevelopment Commission would then <br />normally start a discussion period, if he <br />wants to make a counter offer, the <br />Commission would be willing to consider <br />the counter offer. Mrs. Kolata explained <br />that they need to get to that point and that <br />there are a number of steps that need to be <br />taken before beginning condemnation. <br />Mrs. Kolata explained that if Mr. Smith <br />never made a counter offer, the <br />Commission can't go to condemnation <br />until they wait 30 days after sending the <br />original purchase offer. It is not <br />something that happens automatically, they <br />normally have a negotiation period with <br />property owners. <br />Mr. Hojnacki noted that Mr. Smith's letter <br />states that he is willing to negotiate but it <br />sounds to Mr. Hojnacki that he has already <br />negotiated. <br />Mr. Smith explained that he had an asking <br />price and at that point Mr. Gibney <br />requested that he take his appraiser <br />through the house. Mr. Smith stated that <br />he had a copy of the appraisal for the <br />Commission to see if they wish. Mr. <br />Smith stated that the appraisal came in at <br />
