He stated that since then he <br />has put on a new roof and plywood and he <br />felt as though the house was worth more <br />than the appraiser's price. Mrs. Kolata <br />stated that she did not want to see the <br />appraisal at this time. <br />Mr. Hojnacki asked Mr. Smith if he has <br />his own appraiser and he replied that he <br />did not have his own appraiser, but he <br />probably will get his own appraiser if this <br />process continues. Mr. Smith stated that <br />his complaint is that this is not the way <br />this process should take place. <br />Ms. Auburn asked if once the Commission <br />starts its process —if Mr. Smith decides to <br />go back and deal with South Bend <br />Heritage Foundation or <br />St. Hedwig —can he do this while the <br />Commission is going through their <br />process. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that he still has that <br />option. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that this is part of a <br />larger project. The public purpose is the <br />revitalization of the West Washington - <br />Chapin Development Area —not a <br />particular site. <br />Mr. Hojnacki explained that the <br />Commission will go ahead with their <br />process of acquiring this property but Mr. <br />Smith still has the option to negotiate with <br />-10- <br />
