NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />a. continued.... <br />felt as though that is not the way the <br />process should take place. <br />Ms. Auburn stated that she thought that <br />that was the process that Mr. Smith was <br />asking —to deal directly with <br />St. Hedwig's Church or South Bend <br />Heritage Foundation. That they would <br />bring an appraiser in and that would be the <br />fair - market value of the house. Mr. Smith <br />replied: "That's not necessarily how the <br />process for purchasing a house takes <br />place. " <br />Ms. Auburn stated to Mr. Smith that he <br />might think the value is higher, but the <br />appraiser indicated to him that price for <br />the property is not as high as he thinks it <br />should be. Mr. Smith replied: "I could <br />compare that to, if someone wanted to buy <br />your house (referring to Ms. Auburn's <br />house) and they had an appraiser come <br />into your house and they appraised it <br />for —say half of what it was worth and then <br />you were told that you needed to sell it for <br />that price. " <br />Mr. Smith explained that his position is <br />that the purpose is not what it should be. <br />Ms. Auburn asked a question regarding <br />when the Commission goes to <br />condemnation do they have appraisals <br />done. <br />Mrs. Kolata explained that the first step is <br />IZ <br />
