• Ms. Kiemnec indicated that. South Bend has been designated as a <br />Main Street city and as such is eligible for grant assistance. The <br />proposed project is a retail market study of the dot,.intok,,in. Since <br />the downtown town area isa Multiple Resource Area, the project is <br />eligible for a matching grant from the US Department of the <br />Interior• through the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and <br />Archaeology. Such a grant has been applied for. <br />C. Commission Member --Michael Beatty <br />Ms. Ki emnec informed the Commission that she has received the <br />resignation of Commission Member Michael Beatty. She indicated <br />that several names for replacement have been suggested. The <br />Commission was reminded that the nova vacant position is a. <br />Democratic appointment from the Common C:ounc i 1 . <br />d. Survey Update Pilot Program <br />Ms. Sporleder requested the current status on the survey update <br />project. Ms. Ki emnec indicated that the project. is nearing <br />completion and that. Mr. Poland has spent time at the architect's <br />office assisting i n the final organiza.tion of the material. Ms. <br />Sporl eller• requested that the Commission rev i et,,i representative <br />copies of the survey material before it is sent to the state <br />• historic preservation office. <br />e. Environmental Impact Statement Procedure <br />Mr. Hayes requested that the Commission rev i evt the procedures <br />relating to the Environmental Impact Statements and the excessive <br />time required to properly r•ev i et,,i the statements. <br />'_.
