• <br />the issue to the Certificate of Appropriateness Committee and <br />suggested they address issues such as: work without a <br />Certificate, education of the district homeowners as to the <br />requirements of the standards, and the Liaison Committees - <br />if they are working or if another solution should be devised. <br />The Commission requested that Ms. Kiemnec contact Kevin Smith <br />at 619 Edgewater Place regarding his boat launch which was <br />approved in June. They asked that she discuss a completion <br />date on the project with Mr. Smith. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Preservation Plan <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that Ms. Straw is working on the <br />Endangered and Scarce Resources Chapter and the Adaptive Use <br />Chapter which should be finished by the end of the week and <br />will be ready for Landmarks Committee review by that time. <br />The entire Preservation Plan will be available in the office <br />for review by the Commissioners in early September; Ms. <br />• Kiemnec will send out a memo when It is ready. <br />2) Industrial Buildings Project <br />11 <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that a script has been written and <br />slides gathered for the multi -media presentation on the <br />Industrial Buildings Project. In addition, the history of <br />South Bend's industry has been completed. Both the history <br />and script will be ready next week for review by the Executive <br />Committee. The entire project which will include a report on <br />the staff's recommendations for eligibility will be ready for <br />review by the Commissioners in early September. Ms. Kiemnec <br />will send out a memo to that effect. <br />3) In-service Workshop for Teachers <br />On July 31, 1984, Ms. Straw presented a workshop for teachers <br />of the South Bend School Corporation on what the HPC Is about <br />and what services we can offer. Other groups participating <br />were: the Northern Indiana Historical Society, Discovery <br />Hall, Southhold Restorations, ALSA, and the South Bend Public <br />Library. <br />4) Downtown Technical Advisory Committee <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she was invited to be a member of a <br />4 <br />
