January 17, 1983 <br />Page 3 <br />three copies are being made of the cards: one index type paper copy for <br />the office; a bond paper copy as a duplicate; and a bond paper copy for <br />each of the towns. <br />2) City Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that .521 Bronson, the Southold Heritage Field Office, <br />and 521 E. South Street, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Mester, both in Monroe <br />Park, have been added to the City Survey with S/11 ratings. In addition, <br />the rating of 607 Park Avenue was upgraded from a C/10 to S/11. It is a <br />Freyermuth and Maurer -designed structure which was originally owned by the <br />son of Christopher Fassnacht. <br />h. Annual Report <br />The Annual Report for 1982 was distributed by Ms. Kiemnec. <br />7. Old Business <br />a. Downtowm:Buildings <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Preservation Conference planning is underway. <br />The target date for it is early the week of May 8th which is Preservation Week. <br />8. New Business <br />a. Elections <br />Mr. Nimtz reported that the Nominating Committee had nominated: President, <br />Ted_Wasi,elewski;_V-ice-Pres-ident, John__Oxian;Secretary,_ Joan n__Spo-rl_eder;and___ <br />Treasurer, Duke Newburn. The.nominations were opened to the floor and when <br />none were suggested, Mrs. Choitz moved that the nominations be closed and <br />the secretary be .instructed to cast a unanimous ballot.for the nominees; Mrs. <br />DeLaruelle seconded; motion carried. Mr. Nimtz instructed the secretary to <br />cast a unanimous ballot and declared the nominees duly elected. He further <br />reported that the Nominating Committee recommended that the Commission make <br />more use of the committee structure and that the committees be more active <br />in the future. <br />b. President's Report <br />Mr. Wasielewski reported that he will call a caucus to discuss 1983 goals and <br />committee assignments;: before the February meeting. At the next meeting, he will <br />announce committee appointments. <br />c. Hedgerows <br />Mrs. Sporleder asked for action on the hedgerows. She will do research to <br />determine ownership and report back to the Commission. <br />d. Darden Bridge <br />Mrs. Sporleder expressed concern about the landmark Darden Bridge and its <br />lack of maintenance. She reported that a study was done by an engineering <br />class at Notre Dame in the past,.but a current study of stress and amount of <br />rehabilitation needed should be done. She suggested that the HPC write to the <br />County Engineer requesting that he have his department study the condition of <br />the bridge. Included in the letter will be our recommendations for restora- <br />tion and use and copies will be sent to the County Commissioners and the County <br />Co un c i 1 . <br />e. Studebaker Driver's Club <br />Mr. Oxian suggested that the HPC prepare a list of former Studebaker Houses in <br />
