February 21, 1983 <br />Page 3 <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the owner Mrs. Lilovich had been sent a <br />certified letter about the condition of the landmark house. She has <br />received the letter but has not responded to it. <br />2) Union Station <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that Kathy Barnard, Director of the Code Enforce- <br />ment Department, has spoken to the owner and he has agreed to secure the <br />building. <br />3) Darden Bridge <br />A meeting has not yet been set up to discuss the condition of the bridge <br />with Mr. Richardson, the County Engineer. <br />4) Hedgerows <br />Report postponed. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Conferences <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported on the following conferences: <br />a) 'A National Trust Main Street Training Program in Downtown <br />Revitalization on March 21-23, 1983 in Washington, D.C. <br />b) The 25th Annual Seminar for Historical Administration in <br />Williamsburg, Virginia from June.4 to July 2, 1983 <br />c) An all day conference for Indiana Commission members sponsored <br />by Historic Landmarks Foundation, Inc. on April 23. The <br />charge is $20 for the first Commission.member and $15 for <br />each'one thereafter. <br />Mrs. Sporleder made a motion that the Commission pay for Ms. Kiemnec's <br />registration; Mr. Hayes seconded; motion passed. <br />2). Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that John Folks, a Notre Dame student, is doing an <br />internship for credit with the HPC. He will research and write a history <br />on New Carlisle. She further reported that the Small Town Survey cards, <br />lists, and maps have been taken to the Indianapolis Historic Preservation <br />State Office. She will put together a schedule for completion of the <br />Small Town Survey Summary Report by the end of 1983 and distribute it at <br />the next meeting. <br />3) New Books <br />Four new books recently received include the following: <br />Pictorial and Biographical Memoirs of Elkhart and St. Joseph <br />Counties Indiana, published by Goodspeed Brothers of Chicago <br />Victorian Resorts and Hotels, edited by Richard Guy Wilson <br />and published by --the Victorian Society in America <br />. A Primer': Preservation for the Property Owner, published by <br />the Preservation League of New York State <br />. The Renovator's Supply, a supply catalog on old-style hard- <br />ware, etc. <br />h. President's Report <br />Mr. Wasielewski distributed the list of 1983 Committee assignments (see Appen- <br />dix A). He pointed out the 1983 expiration of terms of office of Mr. Hayes, Mrs. <br />Sporleder, Mrs. DeLaruelle, and Mrs. Choitz. Mrs. Sporleder made a motion that <br />the Commission write to the County Council supporting Mr. Hayes' reappointment; <br />Mrs. Petrass seconded. Mr. Hayes, Mrs. DeLaruelle, and Mrs. Choitz abstained. <br />Mr. Oxian amended the motion that an official policy on reappointment of Com- <br />missioners be adopted by the next meeting and that no further letters on the <br />
