February 21, 1983 Page 3 Ms. Kiemnec reported that the owner Mrs. Lilovich had been sent a certified letter about the condition of the landmark house. She has received the letter but has not responded to it. 2) Union Station Ms. Kiemnec reported that Kathy Barnard, Director of the Code Enforce- ment Department, has spoken to the owner and he has agreed to secure the building. 3) Darden Bridge A meeting has not yet been set up to discuss the condition of the bridge with Mr. Richardson, the County Engineer. 4) Hedgerows Report postponed. g. Staff Report 1) Conferences Ms. Kiemnec reported on the following conferences: a) 'A National Trust Main Street Training Program in Downtown Revitalization on March 21-23, 1983 in Washington, D.C. b) The 25th Annual Seminar for Historical Administration in Williamsburg, Virginia from June.4 to July 2, 1983 c) An all day conference for Indiana Commission members sponsored by Historic Landmarks Foundation, Inc. on April 23. The charge is $20 for the first Commission.member and $15 for each'one thereafter. Mrs. Sporleder made a motion that the Commission pay for Ms. Kiemnec's registration; Mr. Hayes seconded; motion passed. 2). Small Town Survey Ms. Kiemnec reported that John Folks, a Notre Dame student, is doing an internship for credit with the HPC. He will research and write a history on New Carlisle. She further reported that the Small Town Survey cards, lists, and maps have been taken to the Indianapolis Historic Preservation State Office. She will put together a schedule for completion of the Small Town Survey Summary Report by the end of 1983 and distribute it at the next meeting. 3) New Books Four new books recently received include the following: Pictorial and Biographical Memoirs of Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties Indiana, published by Goodspeed Brothers of Chicago Victorian Resorts and Hotels, edited by Richard Guy Wilson and published by --the Victorian Society in America . A Primer': Preservation for the Property Owner, published by the Preservation League of New York State . The Renovator's Supply, a supply catalog on old-style hard- ware, etc. h. President's Report Mr. Wasielewski distributed the list of 1983 Committee assignments (see Appen- dix A). He pointed out the 1983 expiration of terms of office of Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Sporleder, Mrs. DeLaruelle, and Mrs. Choitz. Mrs. Sporleder made a motion that the Commission write to the County Council supporting Mr. Hayes' reappointment; Mrs. Petrass seconded. Mr. Hayes, Mrs. DeLaruelle, and Mrs. Choitz abstained. Mr. Oxian amended the motion that an official policy on reappointment of Com- missioners be adopted by the next meeting and that no further letters on the
