NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />d. continued... <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Hunt, seconded by <br />Mr. Hojnacki and unanimously carried, the <br />Commission approved the Blackthorn Golf <br />Club Special Promotions and Marketing <br />Promotions. <br />e. Presentation on Blackthorn Golf <br />Academy. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that the Commission <br />does not need to take any action on this <br />item; the presentation is for information <br />only. <br />Mr. Godfrey explained the concept for a <br />golf academy at Blackthorn. The staff <br />searched for an existing teaching school that <br />could come to Blackthorn approximately <br />once a month with a 10 -day clinic. Andy <br />Gurley and Paul Senna, with International <br />Golf Instructors, will be conducting 10 -day <br />golf clinics. They are very experienced, <br />love teaching golf, and have been running <br />clinics for several years in Mexico in <br />connection with a resort there. The only <br />expenses for Blackthorn are to assist in <br />marketing the academy by advertising in the <br />newspaper and promotional mailings. The <br />first $3,500 of income from each 10 -day <br />session will go to the instructors to pay for <br />their expenses. From the income between <br />$3,500 and $10,000, Blackthorn will <br />receive 25 %; Blackthorn will receive 30 % <br />of income over $10,000. <br />The academy will be structured into 2 -day <br />schools for men, women, juniors, and <br />seniors and a 2 -hour evening clinic for <br />juniors.
