Page 3 <br />August 16, 1982 <br />Commission on- August 17, 1982. The Commission directed her to ask Mr. Kevin <br />Butler, the HPC attorney, to represent them. <br />e. Public Relations & Community Education <br />No report. <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />1) Certificate of Appropriateness for 701 Portage Avenue <br />Ms. Choitz explained that the Civic Theatre wishes to add signage <br />and lighting to the exterior of the building. Mr. Hayes made a <br />motion that the Certificate of Appropriateness be approved; Mr. Nimtz <br />seconded; motion passed. <br />2) Certificate of Appropriateness for 701 West LaSalle <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that Mr. and Mrs. Brookins wished to erect a <br />picket fence around the perimeter of their rear yard to match the one <br />in the front. Mr. Oxian made a motion to approve the Certificate of <br />Appropriateness; Mr. Nimtz seconded; motion passed. <br />g. Staff Report <br />1) Small Town Survey <br />Ms. Kiemnec introduced Peg Fackelman, the Commission's new secretary, <br />and reported that work on the Small Town Survey is progressing well. <br />2) Conferences <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Fourteenth Annual Indiana Conference on <br />Historic Preservation will be held in Bloomington on September 17 and <br />18. Mr. Nimtz moved that the Commission pay $36.50 for registration and <br />three conference - sponsored meals for Ms. Kiemnec to attend the confer- <br />ence; Mrs. DeLaruelle seconded; motion passed. <br />Ms. Kiemnec further reported that the National Trust Annual Conference will <br />be held October 6 -10 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Hayes made a motion that <br />the Commission pay $75.00 for Ms. Kiemnec's registration and that the <br />remaining $87.50 in that account be used for partial registration fees for <br />any other Commission members who wished to attend. Mrs. DeLaruelle seconded; <br />motion carried. <br />7. Old Business <br />a. Downtown Buildings the <br />- Ms. Kiemnec reported that /Ordinance pertaining to Downtown Buildings will be <br />submitted to the Common Council in time for First Reading on August 23, 1982. <br />b. County Maps <br />Mr. Oxian reported he had discussed the matter of re -doing the County Auto <br />Tour Guides with Southhold Restoration and the Board asked that items such as <br />type of paper, format and cost be discussed and decided on first. The matter <br />was delegated to the Public Relations and Community Education Committee and a <br />meeting will be set up with Southhold. <br />8. New Business <br />a. Ten -Year Anniversary <br />Ms. Kiemnec suggested that since 1983 is the HPC's ten -year anniversary, some <br />type of celebration or ceremony might be planned. The matter was referred to <br />the Public Relations and Community Education Committee. <br />b. Wyatt Christian Church <br />
