Page 2 <br />August 16, 1982 <br />Mr. Oxian inquired as.to why we are not receiving the publication, Blueprint, <br />which we ordered late last year, and Ms. Kiemnec said she would write to <br />find out. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />a. Budget & Finance <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that the County Council will hold public hearings on <br />the budget on August 31 at 5:00 p.m. and that the Council will hold a <br />final vote on September 7 at 7:00 p.m. <br />b. Historic Districts <br />1) LaSalle Street Historic District: -. <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported on a July 29, 1982, meeting on the proposed West <br />Washington /LaSalle Street Historic District (see Appendix A). She <br />advised the Commission that the West Washington group wishes to meet <br />with a larger committee from the neighborhood for feedback while <br />Mrs. Brookins intends to go ahead with the LaSalle Street petition. <br />Both groups will keep the HPC apprised of their progress. <br />2) East Jefferson Historic District <br />Mrs. Sporleder inquired of Mr. Hayes whether there had been any further <br />developments with the East Jefferson Historic District and he said <br />there had not. <br />3) Near East Historic District <br />The Commission discussed the Near East Historic District which would <br />include the north side of East Jefferson from Frances to Eddy and <br />the south side of East Jefferson from St. Louis to the property line <br />on the east side of 1002 East Jefferson. Ms. Choitz made a motion that <br />area residents be contacted by the HPC to see what interest there is for <br />a district. Mrs. Sporleder seconded; motion passed. <br />c. Historic Landmarks <br />1) Report on Fence at Bowman and Rose -Hill Cemeteries <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that she had talked to one of the owners of Rose - <br />Hill Cemetery to see if he was interested in landmark status for the <br />fence. He said he will apprise the other association members and we may <br />contact him about the matter in the future. Ms. Kiemnec further reported <br />that the city will erect a vinyl fence along Miami Street in front of <br />Bowman Cemetery which is adjacent to Rose -Hill. <br />2) Report on 52060 Quince Road <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the landmark designation for 52060 Quince Road <br />was defeated by the County Council but the Council will seek advice from <br />their attorney on their rights over property owners and we may re- submit <br />the building for landmark designation again in six months. <br />3) First Reading for Landmark Designation on 1329 East Washington <br />Ms. Kiemnec recommended the building at 1329 East Washington, a Tudor <br />Revival style house rated S /11 on the city survey, for landmark status. <br />She had a signed consent form from the owner's son but the HPC told her <br />that a signed consent would be necessary from the owner himself. <br />d.
