Committee Reports a. Budget & Finance Ms. Kiemnec reported that the County Council will hold public hearings on the budget on August 31 at 5:00 p.m. and that the Council will hold a final vote on September 7 at 7:00 p.m. b. Historic Districts 1) LaSalle Street Historic District: -. Ms. Kiemnec reported on a July 29, 1982, meeting on the proposed West Washington /LaSalle Street Historic District (see Appendix A). She advised the Commission that the West Washington group wishes to meet with a larger committee from the neighborhood for feedback while Mrs. Brookins intends to go ahead with the LaSalle Street petition. Both groups will keep the HPC apprised of their progress. 2) East Jefferson Historic District Mrs. Sporleder inquired of Mr. Hayes whether there had been any further developments with the East Jefferson Historic District and he said there had not. 3) Near East Historic District The Commission discussed the Near East Historic District which would include the north side of East Jefferson from Frances to Eddy and the south side of East Jefferson from St. Louis to the property line on the east side of 1002 East Jefferson. Ms. Choitz made a motion that area residents be contacted by the HPC to see what interest there is for a district. Mrs. Sporleder seconded; motion passed. c. Historic Landmarks 1) Report on Fence at Bowman and Rose -Hill Cemeteries Ms. Kiemnec reported that she had talked to one of the owners of Rose - Hill Cemetery to see if he was interested in landmark status for the fence. He said he will apprise the other association members and we may contact him about the matter in the future. Ms. Kiemnec further reported that the city will erect a vinyl fence along Miami Street in front of Bowman Cemetery which is adjacent to Rose -Hill. 2) Report on 52060 Quince Road Mr. Oxian reported that the landmark designation for 52060 Quince Road was defeated by the County Council but the Council will seek advice from their attorney on their rights over property owners and we may re- submit the building for landmark designation again in six months. 3) First Reading for Landmark Designation on 1329 East Washington Ms. Kiemnec recommended the building at 1329 East Washington, a Tudor Revival style house rated S /11 on the city survey, for landmark status. She had a signed consent form from the owner's son but the HPC told her that a signed consent would be necessary from the owner himself. d.
