September 15, 1980 Page 2 Conference on Historic Preservation to be held by Indiana University, Bloomington. The Indiana Landmarks Foundation town tours of Martinsville, Indiana. Ch. 34 will have a Sunday series of 39 weeks entitled "This Old House". A flyer from Preservation Press' latest publications was presented. 6. Committee Reports City Survey Mr. Stamper and.:.Mr. Wasielewski discussed the format of the city survey book. Mr. Stamper stated that there were a few surveys yet to be done, along with the city inventory listing. No further report. Budget and Finance Mr. Wasielewski stated the City of South Bend will not fund the Historic Preservation Commission in 1981. No further report. Historic Landmarks and Standards Mr. Oxian presented a discussion on the Area Plan Commission meeting on the Edgewater Place Historic District. Mrs. Katherine Brookins was presented to the commission by Mr. Wasielewski. Mrs. Brookins restated her urgency to proceed with historic district status for the La Salle neighborhood. The com- mission's opinion was that W. La Salle should be in a joint effort along with W. Washington St. and W. Colfax St. in forming a local district. Mr. Oxian moved that if W. Washington St. and W. Colfax Ave. would not joing in an historic district effort with W. La Salle St by October 1 the H.P.C. should move to make W. La Salle St. a district alone, seconded by Mr. Nimtz. Motion carried. Historic Landmarks Mr. Oxian presented the home at 121 N. Studebaker for historic landmark status. Restoration work was done by Southhold Heritage f Foundation and were seeking its designation as a landmark. Mr. Oxian moved and Mr. Odell Newburn seconded that it be so designated. Motion carried. Mr. Oxian moved that the home at 53597 Ironwood be designated a County landmark, seconded by Mrs. Sporleder. Motion carried. No further report. 10
