September 15, 1980 <br />Page 2 <br />Conference on Historic Preservation to be held by Indiana University, <br />Bloomington. <br />The Indiana Landmarks Foundation town tours of Martinsville, Indiana. <br />Ch. 34 will have a Sunday series of 39 weeks entitled "This Old House". <br />A flyer from Preservation Press' latest publications was presented. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />Mr. Stamper and.:.Mr. Wasielewski discussed the format of the city survey <br />book. Mr. Stamper stated that there were a few surveys yet to be done, <br />along with the city inventory listing. No further report. <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. Wasielewski stated the City of South Bend will not fund the <br />Historic Preservation Commission in 1981. No further report. <br />Historic Landmarks and Standards <br />Mr. Oxian presented a discussion on the Area Plan Commission <br />meeting on the Edgewater Place Historic District. <br />Mrs. Katherine Brookins was presented to the commission by <br />Mr. Wasielewski. Mrs. Brookins restated her urgency to proceed with <br />historic district status for the La Salle neighborhood. The com- <br />mission's opinion was that W. La Salle should be in a joint effort <br />along with W. Washington St. and W. Colfax St. in forming a local <br />district. <br />Mr. Oxian moved that if W. Washington St. and W. Colfax Ave. would <br />not joing in an historic district effort with W. La Salle St by <br />October 1 the H.P.C. should move to make W. La Salle St. a district <br />alone, seconded by Mr. Nimtz. Motion carried. <br />Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian presented the home at 121 N. Studebaker for historic <br />landmark status. Restoration work was done by Southhold Heritage <br />f Foundation and were seeking its designation as a landmark. Mr. Oxian <br />moved and Mr. Odell Newburn seconded that it be so designated. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Oxian moved that the home at 53597 Ironwood be designated a <br />County landmark, seconded by Mrs. Sporleder. Motion carried. <br />No further report. <br />10 <br />
