October 21, 1980 <br />Page 2 <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mr. 1&,asielewski stated that Mr. Lute's contract with the <br />Commission had been terminated., Mr. Stamper stated that $969.70 <br />Would be available from the Commission budget for the rest of the <br />year to pay Jeanette Burkett, Hannah Moore and Sylvia Gillis. <br />In addition, $1,924.52 remains in the County Survey DNR grant which <br />can be used next year. <br />Historic Districts and Standards <br />a) West Washington Historic District <br />Mr. Wasielewski reported that a meeting was held regarding the <br />formation of the West Washington Historic District. They agreed <br />to pursue the matter by establishing boundries, forming a <br />committee, and selecting block captains to determine support <br />for the district among the residents. They established the po- <br />tential boundries of Williams Street on the east, the alley <br />behind LaSalle Street on the north, roughly the Cemetery.and <br />Elm Street on the west, and the alleys south of Jefferson on <br />the south. Ruth Price indicated that she would like to see the <br />triangle bounded by Lincoln Way, Chapin and the alley north of <br />LaSalle included in the district. Mr. Wasielski state that he would <br />• have the neighborhood goals written by the next Commission neeting. <br />b) E. Jefferson <br />Mr. Hayes reported that he is proceeding slowly with the E. <br />Jefferson district. Some residents have voiced cautious <br />opposition to the standards and they are taking more time to <br />review them. <br />c) Edgewater Place <br />Mr. Stamper announced that the proposed ordinance for the <br />Edgewater Place Historic District will come before City Council, <br />Monday, Oct. 27, 1980. He reported also that one house on <br />Lincoln Way has been demolished. It was owned by the single <br />person to oppose the ordinance at the meeting of the Area Plan <br />Commission. <br />Historic Landmarks and Standards <br />Mr. Cxian moved that the house at 935 S. Ironwood Drive be designated <br />a landmark. It is ranked an 11, and will be the first landmark in <br />1% River Park. Mrs. Sporleder seconded the motion; however, Mrs. Price <br />requested that it be tabled because the photograph on the survey card <br />was not sufficient for making a decision. It was agreed that the <br />Commissioners would drive by the house and that it would be presented <br />
