November 23, 1981
page 5
0 6. Committee Reports
e. Public Relations and Community Education
1. Report on Architectural Guidebook
Mrs. Price reiterated that she, Leslie Choitz, Jim Mullins,
Joann Sporleder and Karen Kiemnec had met to discuss the book.
The Commission discussed it at the October meeting and agreed
to work with Southhold Restorations on the project. Mrs. Price
read the letter sent to Southhold which made suggestions on how
the two groups might work together on the project and then read
Southhold's reply.
Mrs. Price then suggested that Mr. Stamper was in violation of
his contract when he negotiated to use material generated by
the Commission. Mrs. Sporleder stated that the material is
public information but not yet ready to be published. Mr. Hayes
said he felt the Commission has no grounds to say Mr. Stamper
violated his contract and that the Commission should be pleased
that the information is being used. Mr. Nimtz stated that he
warned Mr. Stamper that he (J. Stamper) would be involved in a
controversy if he continued to work on the book. Mr. Hayes asked
if there was any information in the book that wasn't already
public knowledge. Ms. Derbeck suggested that there was no ob-
jection to her Tribune articles which were based on the same
unpublished information. Mr. Nimtz made a motion that the matter
be referred to the legal committee for consultation. Mrs. Spor-
leder seconded and the motion carried.
f. Environmental Impact Statement
1. Crumstown Highway Rehabilitation Report
Ms. Kiemnec explained that Crumstown Highway will be widened
from State Road 23 to Pine Road and that Cole Associates sent
us an inquiry asking if there were any historic structures
in the area. She sent them a list of significant buildings and
requested further comment if these buildings would be impacted.
John Oxian moved that the report be accepted; Mrs. Sporleder
seconded, motion passed.
2. Certificate of Appropriateness - 537 Edgewater Place
Ms. Kiemnec reported that the Pietrzaks wish to replace the
original windows with similar new ones. Mr. Oxian moved
that the Certificate of Appropriateness be approved, Mr. Hayes
seconded; motion passed.
•
