Public Relations and Community Education <br />(1 ) Summary Report <br />Ms. Kiemnec read a report from John Stamper on the progress <br />of the Summary Report. In his letter, Mr. Stamper had in- <br />dicated that the Summary Report should be ready for the printer <br />by November 1. Ms. Kiemnec estimated that the completion <br />of the Report may be December 1st. Mrs. Price suggested <br />that the Commission might begin making plans for the Sum- <br />mary Report's Release. <br />(2) The Architectural Guidebook <br />Mrs. Price reported that a meeting attended by herself, <br />Jim Mullins, Leslie Choitz, Joann Sporleder and Karen Kiemnec, <br />was held on October 9 to discuss the possible publication of <br />an architectural guidebook. The results of the meeting were <br />that both the Commission and Southhold Restorations would <br />further discuss the publication with their boards with regards <br />to marketing potential, funding possibilities and the audience <br />that the book would be directed to. <br />Mrs. Price suggested that the Commission might get counsel or <br />advice from publishers in the area. Ms. Derbeck stated that <br />the Northern Indiana Historical Society might be consulted <br />about publishing. Mr. Oxian indicated that Southhold Restor- <br />ations gave a tentative approval to the original proposal <br />presented to them by John Stamper and Joann Sporleder. He <br />further stated that he agreed that Southhold Restorations and <br />the Historic Preservation Commission continue discussion on <br />the book. Mrs. Sporleder suggested that the Commission might <br />contact John Gilette in Niles for advice about publishing and <br />that there is a need to identify the market. <br />f. Environmental Impact Statement <br />(1) Certificate of Appropriateness -557 Edgewater <br />Carol Mooney and George Efta wish to reroof their garage <br />with shingles of similar color and style. Galvanized metal <br />flanking will be replaced or duplicated and two skylights <br />will be added on the east and south sides which will not be <br />seen from the street. Ms. Kiemnec recommended that the Com- <br />mission give its approval. Mr. Oxian made a motion that the <br />Certificate of Appropriateness be approved, Mrs. Sporleder <br />seconded, motion passed. <br />g. Staff Report <br />(1) Small Town Survey Report <br />Ms. Kiemnec reported that one or two days in Walkerton <br />would complete the fieldwork in that town. She also indi- <br />
