August 17, 1981 <br />• Page 3 <br />(3) South Bend Schools <br />Mr. Oxian read a Landmarks Committee report regarding South <br />Bend schools. The Committee proposed declaring Central High <br />School and Oliver School as historic landmarks, as well as to <br />work with the School Board on the design review of Muessel <br />School. A letter stating such will be sent to the School <br />• Corporation in an attempt to obtain consent for the landmark <br />designations. Mr. Oxian moved that the report be adopted. The <br />motion was seconded by Mrs. Sporleder and it passed unanimously. <br />d. Legal <br />(1) Mr. Nimtz stated that Mr. Allsop has resigned as the Commission <br />attorney. Mr. Nimtz stated that he would approach Mr. Allsop <br />to see if he would reconsider. Mr. Nimtz moved that Mr. Allsop's <br />letter be acknowledged. The motion was seconded by Mr. Oxian and <br />it carried. <br />(2) Mrs. Price appointed herself to the Legal Committee and set a <br />meeting of the Committee for August 25, 1981, 7:00 p.m. <br />e. Public Relations --and Community Education <br />(1) Mrs. Price requested that a session be held with City and County <br />agencies at the completion of the Summary Report and/or that <br />there be a press release to publicize the book and its goals. <br />Mrs. Price stated that the matter be discussed by the Public <br />Relations and Community Education Committee <br />f. Environmental Impact Statements <br />No. Report <br />g. Staff Report <br />(1) City Survey <br />Mr. Stamper stated that the City Survey Summary Report will be <br />submitted to the printer in September. He further stated that <br />after talking with Miss Nancy Long at the SHPO it was determined <br />• that the Commission could not claim a copyright on the survey <br />material because it was paid for by government funds. <br />(2) Small Town Survey <br />Miss Kiemnec stated that the Small Town Survey is continuing on <br />schedule, that all of the field work is done with the exception <br />of Walkerton. The Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana is <br />sending a check for $1500 as their part of the matching grant, <br />and the Commission has submitted to the SHPO donated time reports <br />for partial payment of their grant. <br />
