Historic Districts • (1) Edgewater Place Historic District Miss Kiemnec read a letter from the Edgewater Place Historic District Liaison Committee requesting that they be informed by the Commission about upcoming Commission meetings in which Edgewater Place issues may be discussed. Mr. Oxian suggested this matter be placed in the Historic District's Committee. Mrs. Sporleder suggested the Commission agenda be sent to any and all parties whose properties may be discussed at a Commission meeting. (2) St. Joseph Street Historic District Mrs. Price suggested that the Commission meet with the design groups working in the Monroe/Sample Project Area to discuss the creation of the St. Joseph Street Historic District. . Mrs. Price suggested a noon meeting the week of August 24th. c. Historic Landmarks (1) 1005 W. Washington Street Mr. Oxian moved that the house at 1005 W. Washington Street be designated a historic landmark. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sporleder and it passed unanimously. (2) Abandoned Buildings Policy Mr. Oxian read the report of the Landmarks Committee regarding a proposed policy for abandoned buildings. Mrs. Price recom- mended that the last sentence be changed from "and recommend" to "may recommend". Mr. Oxian moved that the policy with the • stated correction be adopted. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sporleder. Mr. Nimtz raised the question of why the policy should apply only to abandoned buildings. Mr. Oxian clarified the intent of the policy and stated its importance in regard to abandoned, parti- cularly deteriorating buildings. Mr. Nimtz recommended that the policy be reviewed by the attorneys of the City and County Councils. Mr. Oxian withdrew his motion. Mr. Nimtz moved that the proposed policy be reviewed by Mr. Bodine and Mrs. Farrand and then be placed on the Commission's September agenda. Mr. Oxian seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
