Historic Districts <br />• (1) Edgewater Place Historic District <br />Miss Kiemnec read a letter from the Edgewater Place Historic <br />District Liaison Committee requesting that they be informed <br />by the Commission about upcoming Commission meetings in which <br />Edgewater Place issues may be discussed. Mr. Oxian suggested <br />this matter be placed in the Historic District's Committee. <br />Mrs. Sporleder suggested the Commission agenda be sent to any <br />and all parties whose properties may be discussed at a <br />Commission meeting. <br />(2) St. Joseph Street Historic District <br />Mrs. Price suggested that the Commission meet with the design <br />groups working in the Monroe/Sample Project Area to discuss <br />the creation of the St. Joseph Street Historic District. <br />. Mrs. Price suggested a noon meeting the week of August 24th. <br />c. Historic Landmarks <br />(1) 1005 W. Washington Street <br />Mr. Oxian moved that the house at 1005 W. Washington Street be <br />designated a historic landmark. The motion was seconded by <br />Mrs. Sporleder and it passed unanimously. <br />(2) Abandoned Buildings Policy <br />Mr. Oxian read the report of the Landmarks Committee regarding <br />a proposed policy for abandoned buildings. Mrs. Price recom- <br />mended that the last sentence be changed from "and recommend" <br />to "may recommend". Mr. Oxian moved that the policy with the <br />• stated correction be adopted. The motion was seconded by Mrs. <br />Sporleder. <br />Mr. Nimtz raised the question of why the policy should apply only <br />to abandoned buildings. Mr. Oxian clarified the intent of the <br />policy and stated its importance in regard to abandoned, parti- <br />cularly deteriorating buildings. Mr. Nimtz recommended that the <br />policy be reviewed by the attorneys of the City and County <br />Councils. Mr. Oxian withdrew his motion. Mr. Nimtz moved that <br />the proposed policy be reviewed by Mr. Bodine and Mrs. Farrand <br />and then be placed on the Commission's September agenda. Mr. Oxian <br />seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. <br />
