February 16, 1981 <br />• Page 3 <br />Historic Landmarks <br />1. 63907 Bremen Highway, Woodland, Indiana, received a <br />second reading for landmark designation. Mr. Oxian <br />V moved to approve the home for landmark status. Mr. Nimtz <br />seconded. The motion was unanimously approved. <br />2. A letter was sent to the County Commissioners concerning. <br />allocation of $500 for plaques for a ceremony honoring <br />the owners of historic homes. <br />3. Mr. Stamper reported on 935 S. Ironwood concerning the <br />APC's favorable recommendation on landmark status. <br />4. Mr. Oxian requested that the issue of policy in regard <br />to abandoned historic homes in the county will be on the <br />March agenda. <br />5. Mrs. Price requested a report on landmark status of county <br />structures from Mr. Oxian. The summary will include: lists <br />of landmarks and owner responses to Commission request for <br />landmark status. <br />Legal <br />Mr. Gaylen Allsop's suggestions were presented by Mrs. Price <br />concerning amending the ordinances to allow the Commission to <br />accept gifts and to strengthen its enforcement procedures. <br />Mrs. Price also suggested that this would present an opportunity <br />for the attorneys from the County and City to become familiar <br />with Historic Preservation Law through working with Mr. Allsop. <br />Mr. Oxian moved to amend the ordinances. Mr. Nimtz seconded. <br />The motion was unanimously approved. <br />A motion to send letters to start the ordinance certification <br />process was made by Mr. Nimtz and seconded by Mr. Newburn. <br />The motion was unanimously approved. <br />Public Relations and Community Education <br />Preservation week celebration - a letter was sent to various agencies <br />concerned with Preservation announcing a meeting at the library <br />Feb. 19th at 7:00 P.M. regarding the celebration. <br />A request was made to use funds to aid in payment of postage etc. <br />for the celebration through the Public Relations Committee. The <br />request was granted by affirmation of the Commission. <br />Environmental Impact Statement Twyckenham Bridge <br />Mr. Stamper presented the plans for the proposed rehabilitation of <br />the Twyckenham Bridge. The Commission voted to send a letter to <br />Robert'' Richardson, County Engineer, to request information on com- <br />parative prices of open balastrade railings as opposed to enclosed <br />railings, and on replacing the small pier arches under the deck as <br />
