January 16, 1978 <br />Page 7 <br />ielewski said he was confused as to the merit of the proposal, and Mrs. <br />Sporleder assured him that it is a statement to the effect that the <br />Commission supports this in terms of an enviornmental impact statement. <br />Mr. Oxian then clarified this further and said adopting this resolution <br />puts the Commission on a positive footing. Then the motion to adopt <br />this resolution with the two amendments was put to a vote and passed <br />unanimously. <br />Ms. Davisson then informed the audience that the Historic Preservation <br />Commission does have available to the public, documents done by the <br />consultants and architect on the Main Street Commercial Historic District, <br />and these are free to the public. Mr. Oxian mentioned that a number of <br />these forms are on the front desk. <br />4. Treaurer's Report <br />Mr. Wasielewski distributed copies of the January, 1978 Treasurer's <br />Report. He made a --motion that the following bills be approved for <br />payment: Postage $16.71; Duplicating - $3.24; for Candy Peck for <br />January services - $833.33, and likewise for February services - $833.33. <br />Mr. Eckerle seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. <br />5. Correspondence <br />Miss Peck discussed a..letter to the Commission from the Mayor concerning <br />the Downtown. <br />She also discussed a letter from the National Advisory Council to Mr. Wayne <br />Brownell, head of the Redevelopment Commission, concerning historic build. <br />ings in the downtown area that would be affected by the Century Mall or <br />not affected by the Century Mall. <br />,R*hp flirtlhPr r3i scvaser3 a letter sent out to the American M4&Ci Corn. con- <br />cerning the sealer used on the Leeper Bridge so that the Commission can <br />get assistance from Technical Preservation Services on the best methods <br />to treat the fabric of the bridge in the future. As soon as the Commis- <br />sion gets the designation of the chemical breakdown of the sealer, a <br />letter will be sent to the Technical Preservation Services Division of <br />the National Trust Service. <br />She mentioned that the had written a letter to the Office of Archeology <br />and Historic Preservation under the National Park Service requesting <br />information on the basic financial benefits for which owners of historic <br />landmarks or National Register properties could qualify. <br />Also a letter was sent to a Mr. Reeves concerning a book that had to do <br />with the LaSalle Expedition II. A Mr. Stump wrote a book about the`ex- <br />pedition, sent it to Mr. Reeves, and wondered what had happened to it. <br />There was discussion as to which letters received or sent by the Commission <br />should be attached to the Minutes. No motion was made on this action and <br />Mr. Oxian said that he felt the Commission members would go along with the <br />method adopted up to now. <br />• 6.
