October 22, 1979 <br />Page 2 <br />Mr. Stamper read a memorandum sent to the Board of County Commissioners <br />commending them for their action in declaring the week of October 22-28 <br />as "Celebration of Architecture Week//. <br />Mr, Stamper reported he sent a letter to Mr, Dick Cahtz, Assistant to the <br />State Historic Preservation Officer concerning the status of the City <br />Survey, and enclosing the signed vouchers for reimbursement. <br />Mr. WaslmlmwskY read the letter of resignation from Mr. Tim Eckerle, <br />which is to be effective November 1, 1979. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />Mr' Stamper stated he still had two lists that needed redatYng of <br />construction dates, these should be checked and them he can start <br />on district maps. <br />Budget and Finance <br />Mrs. Price said there was nothing to report, but the Budget Committee <br />needs to meet to review the CETA situation. <br />Historic Districts and Standards <br />Mr. WaslalewskY brought up the matter of the Odd Fellows 8/6o., <br />104 S. Main St, He said since the Odd Fallows 8ldg, continues to be <br />/n jeopardy of demolition he would like to nominate the Odd Fellows <br />Bldg. to the National Register as a contingency to the West Washington <br />Historic District. Mrs. Price moved the Commission prooede with the <br />application. Mrs. Spurledar seconded. A vote was taken and all voted <br />in favor except Mr. N|mtz who voted nay.- Mr. Nimtz felt the action <br />was taken without the owners consent ('City of South Bend and the <br />Redevelopment Dept' \ and was inconsistent. <br />There was further discussion on the Odd Fellows Bldg, by Commission <br />members. <br />Historic Landmarks and Standards <br />Mr. WamYelewskY reiterated that the Odd Fellows Bldg. ordinance for <br />landmark designation will be sent to the Common Council. <br />Mr' 8uian raised the issue of 16327 Cleveland Road which was declared <br />a historic landmark as the first such landmark in SL. Joseph County. <br />At that time, there was no precendanma for such action and it was declared <br />.a landmark by resolution. He proposed that this structure be declared a <br />historic landmark by Ordinance of the County Counc!l. He moved, Mrs. <br />- <br />Price seconded, and it passed unanimously. <br />
