April 16, 1979 <br />Page 4 <br />• No report. <br />Environmental Impact Statement <br />Mr. Wasielewski reported that he would bring up the Colfax Bridge <br />matter at the next meeting. <br />Presidential Report <br />Mr. Wasielewski asked John Stamper to report. Mr. Stamper remarked <br />that he was looking forward to working with the Commission and men- <br />tioned that Brian's survey is a "marvelous:th,i:ng"- a most significant <br />survey. He said he would be available to work for the Commission <br />after May 14th. <br />Mrs. Price reported that Arthur Ziegler would be in South Bend <br />May 9th. <br />She also discussed the upcoming conference on New Resources for <br />Urban Design and Historic Preservation, May 16 - May 18, sponsored <br />by the City of Evansville and held in that city. She said she wished <br />John Stamper would attend this conference. <br />Mr. Wasielewski recommended that Mrs. Gilbert type up a contract <br />for John Stamper's employment as a Historic Preservation Planner. <br />• Staff Report <br />Mrs. Gilbert informed the Commission that Area Plan wished us to buy <br />more Xerox paper as we have used 758 sheets since December. Mr. Al <br />Stivers moved that this paper be purchased. John Oxian seconded. <br />Motion passed. <br />National Trust for Historic Preservation has a primer called, "Pre- <br />servation for the Property Owner/" Mr. Oxian made a motion that this <br />primer, and another book that Mrs. Price feels the Commission should <br />have, be purchased. This book is on redevelopment of commercial <br />properties. Ms. Sporleder seconded and the motion passed. It was <br />suggested that the price of bulk rate copies be investigated for the <br />primer. <br />A motion to pay the $50.00 technical assistance bill forw,an update <br />of the Auto Tour map by Crumlish/Sporleder was made by John Oxian. <br />Al Stivers seconded. Motion passed. <br />Mrs. Gilbert mentioned that John Embrickson, head of maintenance, <br />needs some further information from Joann Sporleder concerning court - <br />windows, as well as from Ruth Price concerning funding. <br />The St. Joseph Hospital wing will be demolished, probably in August, <br />and bids are being accepted for salvage materials. <br />It 479 7.
