June 20, 1977 <br />Page 3 <br />IIMs. Gilbert mentioned that a request for 50 Auto Tour Maps had been <br />received from Dr. William Tishler of the Department of Landscape <br />Architecture. He wished to use these as a teaching aid in his course <br />on historic preservation. These pamphlets were duly sent out. <br />6. Committee Reports <br />City Survey <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski reported that he had spoken to Don Sporleder <br />who was given permission to -go ahead and hire Jerry Kline and <br />Mary Donahue, previously mentioned. He mentioned that part of the <br />survey work was done on St. Joseph Street and the perimeter. The <br />Studebaker -Oliver industrial complex was also discussed. A com- <br />mittee meeting would be held sometime around July 4th to "hammer <br />out some things." Ms. Deloris Davisson then brought up the fact <br />that no survey cards have been done on the West Washington His- <br />torical District. She felt -these should be done and perhaps C.D. <br />funds could be used for this purpose. Mr. Oxian said that C.D. <br />funds received for 1978 can be used to fill out the survey cards <br />in the West Washington District. <br />Budget and Finance <br />There was no report from this committee <br />Historic Districts <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski had no report at this time. <br />Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian reported that he will initiate an ordinance in the County <br />Council to have the structure at 65oi4 VT S. 31 South declared a <br />landmark. The daughter-in-law called about the former school house <br />and what was entailed in declaring the building -a landmark and said <br />she would report the conversation to her father-in-law. Mr. Oxian <br />has had no further word from her for or against the declaring the <br />building a landmark. <br />Legal <br />There was no report from the Legal Committee. <br />Public Relations and Community Education <br />Ms. Davisson reported that she had received a letter from Mr. <br />Richard Haupt, Director of the Education Services Division of the <br />National. Trust announcing that the "Project Landmarks" had been <br />_ awarded a grant in the total amount of $10,000. with the matching <br />fund amount to the Commission of $4,800. She said the first payment <br />of the matching fund grant would come in October and the second in <br />January. She then announced that a grant from Indiana Committee <br />for the Humanities had awarded a grant for the preparation and <br />
