June 20, 1977
Page 4
showing of 3 one-hour video tapes on the game, Architecture:
American Style to be done at I. U.S.B. There was some discussion
on the matching funds for this project.
Ms. Davisson then said she wanted to engage Lou Sabo to take about
twenty slides on the Queen Anne style of architecture for the July
taping of the "Patchwork" show on WNIT.
Ms. Davisson then informed the Commission that there was no monitor-
ing of the C.D. funds in the absence of a Planner - pointing up the
need to get a Planner in the vacant position, and Mr. Oxian reported
that he would instruct his brother to look into this matter.
Mr. Tom Catanzarite of the County Council then approached the Com-
mission and spoke of the possibility of making the position of
Historic Preservation Planner.part of the County budget. It was
suggested that Mr. John Oxian go before the County Commissioners
with this request. Mr. Catanzarite said another possibility is to
have this position taken up by the Area Plan Commission as their
personnel.
Standards and Historic Plan
Mr. Oxian stated that the Commission members had been sent copies
of the guidelines for the Review Board subject to their comments.
Ms. Davisson felt that this project is somewhat premature and should
come under the jurisdiction of the Historic Preservation Planner,
when that person is hired. Mr.-Oxian said that since the County
Survey was completed and 31 landmarks had been designated. in the
county, the Commission could no longer postpone the organization
and powers of a Review Boaxd and so comments were needed right now
and not in a year.
Presidential Report
Mr. Oxian informed the Commission that he had been interviewed,
by a Mrs. Lambert who represented the National Research Center of
the Arts, Inc. They are gathering statistics of non-profit and
cultural organizations of the United States. A letter that had
been sent by Louis Harris, Chairman of this center was read,to the
Commission.
Staff Report
Ms. Gilbert requested permission to purchase three, three-tier
file cabinets for 3 x 5 index cards to file the cards now being
catalogued for the slides. She was instructed to check if there
were any old, unused -file drawers of this kind within the build-
ing before buying any.
Ms. Gilbert reported that she, at the°suggestion of Mr. Oxian, had
written a letter to Ms. Belle Pendleton informing her that she had -
been engaged to serve as research assistant from July 15 to Septem-
ber 15, a period of two months, for which she would be paid $500.00
per month.
