October 18, 1976 <br />Page 5 - <br />Ms. Kopczynski then informed the Commission that the two <br />pictures chosen by the Area Plan Commission had been framed. <br />and are now hanging in its foyer. The Area Plan Commission <br />is pleased with the results. <br />Mr. Smith mentioned that he and Ms. Gilbert had had a meeting <br />with Marty Beneki of the County CETA office in regard to Ms. <br />Gilbert's work evaluation and a review session had been held. <br />Mr. Rothermel asked Ms. Kopczynski if the Commission had a <br />duplicate set of slides of superior homes and was informed <br />that the Commission did not have a duplicate set but that the <br />architectural library at Notre Dame had made and paid for <br />having a set of:these slides made. <br />7. Old Business <br />Mr. Smith asked about the National Park Service grant and Ms. <br />Kopczynski informed him that a letter had been sent to Mr. <br />Gantz regarding this matter but no reply had been received as <br />yet. <br />Mr. John Oxian reported that his brother, Sahag, had been <br />given the assignment of doing research on the Union Train <br />Station and the feasibility of making it a third year <br />Community Development project. <br />Mr. Rothermel reported that there is a possibility that there <br />may be a buyer for the Colfax School. It is a business venture <br />but nothing has been decided.yet. It was mentioned that all <br />windows, except a curved one, had been adequately boarded up. <br />8. New Business <br />Ms. Kopezynski informed the Commission that a membership <br />renewal form had been received from the National Trust. They <br />urged the Commission, in this Bicentennial year, to subscribe <br />to a "Contributing Membership" for $50.00 rather than an <br />"Associates Membership" for $25.00. Mr. Oxian made a motion <br />that the Commission renew its Associate membership in the <br />National Trust. Ms. Sporleder seconded this motion and it <br />passed unanimously. <br />Ms. Sporleder then showed a copy of the most recent U.S. News <br />and World.Report which carried an informative article, en- <br />titled, "Mow It's Old Buildings That Are Recycled." It was <br />duly noted by the Commission. <br />Ms. Kopczynski then stated that she has been asked by the --- <br />Hbaian-Resources and Commmity Development Office if the Com- <br />mission knows of any archeological findings or history on'the <br />12 to 20 foot area along the east side of the St. Joseph Riv- <br />er by the Moonraker-Restaurant. She said they were interested <br />in a little report of that area which still has some industrial <br />plants on it. <br />
