Mr. Smith suggested that letters be written <br />to Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Marshall County, and <br />Cleveland, Ohio requesting information regarding such <br />certificates. <br />Legal <br />Mr. Nimtz had.no report at this time. <br />Public Relations and Education <br />Due to the absence of Ms. Deloris Davisson, Chair- <br />woman of this Committee, there was no report. <br />Ms. Kopczynski informed the Commission that the <br />student intern from the American Studies program'at <br />Notre Dame is moving along with her project and will <br />share it with the Commission at some future date. <br />Standards and Historic Plan <br />There was no report from this committee. <br />Presidential Report <br />Mr. Smith informed the Commission that -he had received <br />a letter from Mayor Peter J. Nemeth re -appointing Mr. - <br />F. Jay Nimtz for a three-year term, ending October 31, <br />1979. <br />Mr. Smith then acknowledged the invitations the Com- <br />mission members and staff had received.for a Sunday <br />afternoon tea at the Gibney house. It is to be held <br />October 24, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. He hoped Commission <br />members would be able to attend. <br />Staff Report <br />Ms. Kopczynski reported that she had had a meeting with <br />Margery Kinsey, Professor.of Art History at Notre Dame, --- <br />regarding a system of cataloguing slides for the Commis- <br />sion. She said it was a worthwhile system but would <br />necessitate a bit of financing. The storage bins would <br />cost approximately $100. <br />Ms. Kopczynski next informed the Commission that she had <br />heard from City CETA regarding staffing for a research <br />assistant. She felt that there again would be a full <br />staff at the next meeting. Various Commission members <br />reported that they had been in contact with Peter Mullin <br />regarding this matter. <br />Mr. Smith reported that he had had a talk with Mr. Rich- <br />ard Johnson who had spoken to Mr. Larrison regarding ad- <br />ditional space for the Commission. Mr. Larrison assured <br />him that some space would be made available, perhaps in <br />part of the area where MACOG is located. Mr. Johnson <br />seems to think this is a favorable situation. Mr. Smith <br />said he appreciated.Mr. Johnson "going to bat" for the <br />Commission. <br />
