June 21, 1976 <br />Page 3 <br />Historic Landmarks <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the "overlay" amendment was passed <br />unanimously at the recent Common Council meeting. Mr. Oxian <br />stated that the bill regarding the demolition time was spon- <br />sored by Mr. Dombrowski. <br />Mr. Oxian then stated that he had written Mr. Davisson, the <br />owner of the Union Station, regarding landmark designation. <br />He then made a motion to change the Union Station designation <br />as a landmark from resolution to ordinance. Mi. Sporleder <br />seconded this motion and it passed unanimously. There was <br />discussion on this subject and it was suggested that perhaps <br />Federal funds could be used in the future adaptive use of <br />this railroad station. <br />Mr. Oxian stated that he Mad received quite a few replies to <br />his letters to homeowners regarding landmark status. Ms. <br />Sporleder wanted to know if it was the intention of the Com- <br />mission to declare as landmarks all the superior homes. Mr. <br />Oxian made a motion that all home that are declared superior <br />on the County Survey be recommended as landmarks following <br />the regular procedure. Mr. Rothermel seconded this motion <br />and it passed unanimously. There was no discussion. <br />Mr. Oxian then listed nine homes which he wanted declared, at <br />intervals, for landmark designation. They are as follows: <br />1259+ State Road 23 <br />14297 State Road 23 <br />16479 Brick Road <br />24845 State Road 23 <br />14912 Brick Road <br />52228 Gumwood Road <br />60500 Bremen Road <br />Mr. Oxian then stated that Mr. Thurin, who owns 61955 Locust <br />Road as welly as 322 West Washington Avenue, wants both de- <br />clared as landmarks. He said he would abide by any standards <br />established by the Commission towards his buildings. Ms. <br />Sporleder said she would like to appraise the county property. <br />Mr. Ted Wasielewski made a motion that these nine homes be - <br />designated as landmarks with the exception of the Thurin pro- <br />perty at Locust Road pending evaluation by the architectural <br />historian. Ms. Davisson seconded this motion. The motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Legal <br />Mr. Nimtz made a motion that Kevin <br />be contacted for comment, <br />purchasing procedures and <br />the Commission.
