She explained that
the questions of covenants was raised and believes this is
-something the Commission should inform itself about. It was
suggested that Mr. Oxian, who also heard about covenants at
the National Trust Annual meeting, make a preliminary study
about this.
Presidential Report
Mr. Smith reported that Walter Rinderle was contracted for
the year 1976 to serve in the capacity of Consultant, and --
Tobi Christianson, under City CETA funds, as Research Assis-
tant. Unfortunately, Ms. Christianson's daughter is quite
ill and Tobi was advised by Mr. Smith not to worry about her
position at this point. Tobi stated that she will make up
the time lost.
Mr. Smith then stated that the election of officers would
take place in February. Mr. Smith suggested that F. Jay
Nimtz serve on the nominating committee and report to the
Commission at the next meeting. Mr. Nimtz agreed to do so.
Mr. Smith reported that he h'ad heatd nothing from the Murphy
Consultants regarding the Enviornmental Impact Statement on
Chapin Street. He felt it would be wise for the Commission -
to write Murphy stating the Commission's concern in this mat-
ter and to get any input on any recommendations they make.
He added that they should be reminded that this area is on
the National Register and under federal law the Commission can
halt anything they can do in that area.
President Smith informed the Commission that Ms. Joanne Spor-
leder had had a baby daughter. She urged Mr._ Smith to talk
to the Commission and especially to any members of the Park
Avenue Assciation to urge them to band together and work with
the Commission to list it on the National Register as an his-
toric zone. He stressed that the Commission would help this
Association in any way. He suggested that Ms. Davisson make
contact with these people and explain the sitution to them.
He stressed that designation of federal funds cannot be used
to --tear up streets. Mr. Smith also said that Southhold would
co-operate with this project.
Mrs. Doyle and Mr. Pausek talked about changes that were taking
place in their neighborhood. Mr. Pausek spoke about a gradual
infiltration of commercial enterprises. Mr. Smith suggested
a meeting with the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association and
said the Commission would like to help in any way it can. He -
further said he would like to go to Indianapolis and make con-
tact with Mr. Cloud in behalf of this Commission.
Mr. Smith then excused himself as he had another committment
and Vice -President John Oxian became the presiding officer.
Legal
Mr. F.
