September 15, 1975
Page 4
Mr. Oxian asked Commission approval of two structures
in the county which the Committtee would like to submit
to the.Area Plan Commission to be designated as historic
landmarks. One is the Bauman House.on Sumption Trail.-4oY13
The.architecture of this house is historically signifi-
cant. The other is at 2+888 Cleveland Road. The barn
is included with the house. The motion to have these
structures designated as historical landmarks was made
by Mr. F. Jay Nimtz and seconded by Mr. Al Stivers. Thea
motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Oxian next reported on his suggestion of plaques for
historic landmarks. He showed the Comnission_members two
possibilities and asked them to comment. Ms. Sporleder
commented that one resembled a Williamsburg District --
plaque and would therefore be unsuitable for the Commis-
sion's purpose. After some discussion, it was decided -
to give the plaque brochures to Al Stivers who would re-
port on them at the next meeting.
Public Relations and Education
There has been no formal meeting of this committee and no
report at this time.
Ms. Davisson reported on the ICH evaluation. She said
there was some ambiguity about the procedure. She also
mentioned a meeting between her, Laois McMahon and Uk.
Horseborough, an architectural historian of considerable
note. She has asked Mr. Horseborough to speak at a later
Commission meeting.
Presidential Report
Mr. Smith reported that Frank Gilbert of the National Trust
had spoken to him and invited him to give a small presenta-
tion at the Annual Meeting of the National Trust.in Boston.
He asked for permission to speak at the convention for the
Commission. Mr. Smith is to confer with John Oxian about
a possible presentation. Mr. Smith further asked Commission
approval to allocate $200.00 maximum per person for himself
and John Oxian to attend this National Trust Annual Meeting.
Mr. F. Jay Nimtz made a motion to this effect and Ms. Spor-
leder seconded it. It was put to a vote and passed unani-
mously.
Consultant's Report
Mrs. McMahon suggested that she and B'Is. Joanne Sporleder
be allowed travel expenses to attend the Indiana Conference
on Historic Preservation at Bloomington on September 19-20.
After a discussion on just how much would remain in the line
