Mr. Nimtz seconded and the motion <br />was unanimously approved. <br />Ms. Schlereth announced that the land use and zoning maps <br />drawn up by Crumlish/Sporleder were received and she showed <br />them to the Commission. <br />7. Old Business <br />Crumlish/Sporleder <br />Mr. Oxian reported that Crumlish/Sporleder were favorable to <br />working in conjunction with Mr. Gaede from the very beginning <br />of the survey for the county. Mr. Oxian remarked that they <br />felt it was a good idea to get an outside perspective. They <br />will draw up a contract for the use of the $5,000 to start the <br />survey of the county, and a tentative contract for $25,000 for <br />a survey of the city. There will be another meeting on Thurs- <br />day at 5:00 p.m. with Crumlish/Sporleder and officers of the <br />Commission. <br />Kresge -Union Station <br />Mr. Oxian reported that the results of the Common Council meet- <br />ing was "we win one and we lose one." The National Bank sent <br />a lawyer to the Council meeting to protest a declaration con- <br />cerning the site of the former Kresge building. The matter <br />was tabled. <br />Action on the resolution to declare the Union Station an histor- <br />ic landmark was favorable. Terry Miller was the only dissenting <br />vote to a motion made by Mr. Nemeth and seconded by Mr. Parent. <br />Historic Preservation Week <br />President Smith announced that there would be an awards luncheon <br />at Tippicanoe Place Tuesday, May 13th, and urged Commission mem- <br />bers to attend. He suggested that the Commission might pick up <br />the cost of the luncheon for any Commission member who wished to <br />attend. <br />Mr. Smith was heartened by the fine attendance at the Junior <br />League's Showcase House on Navarre Street. He also said there <br />was a good response on advance ticket sales for the Tour of <br />Homes sponsored by Southhold Restorations, Inc. <br />Plaques <br />Mr. Smith said he had been in touch with the Michigan City Prison - <br />and they would like to see some examples of plaques which the Com- <br />mission might wish to use to designate landmarks. He said he is - <br />in favor of a plaque similar to the one on the old American Bank <br />Building. Mr. Oxian said Mrs. Ruth Price had several slides of <br />Historical Plaques. Ms. Sporleder said the Commission should <br />look into the ones done in Michigan for the Centennial which <br />
