Mr. Smith recognized Mr. Crumlish for the purpose of giving <br />his report, as Mr. Crumlish had to leave the meeting <br />early. <br />Mr. Nimtz commented on the work that had already gone <br />into the development of standards for the West Washington <br />Ave. area, both by -Mr. Crumlish, and the members of the <br />Historic Districts Committee who met with Crumlish/ <br />Sporleder on October 10th in a working session. Present <br />at the October 10th meeting were: Ms. Davisson, Mr. <br />Nimtz, Ms. Sporleder, Ms. Studer, Ms. Schlereth, Mr. <br />Crumlish, Mr. Sporleder, and Mr. Eddy. <br />Mr. Crumlish summarized the twenty-five page report. <br />Pages 1-11 are background information. Page 12 begins <br />to talk about how an existing building can be changed. <br />Pages 15 and 16 are concerned with demolition. Mr. <br />Crumlish reminded the Commission that the standards <br />refer back to the Master Study done by Crumlish/Sporleder <br />for Southhold Restorations. <br />A discussion of the standards followed. Ms. Price <br />asked about the limitation of surface materials. Mr. <br />Crumlish suggested that perhaps it is merely a matter <br />of wording the paragraph more positively to do away with <br />Ms. Price's objection. Ms. Studer recommended that page <br />17 be amended to delete "and should proceed to remove the <br />material for proper safekeeping." <br />Mr. Oxian moved that the proposal be taken home and that <br />another meeting be called this month to consider it. Mr. <br />Rothermel seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. <br />A meeting of the entire Commission was set for Friday <br />October 18th at 5 p.m. at the offices of Crumlish/Sporleder <br />located at 511 W. Colfax. <br />Mr. Smith recognized Ms. Price, as she also had to leave the <br />meeting. <br />Ms. Price discussed how "Preservation" can get involved <br />in Community Development funding, i.e. the restoration <br />and preservation of property. She stated that the guide- <br />lines are out now in draft form and will be finalized on <br />January 1st. They are asking for suggestions from in- <br />terested citizens. <br />Ms. Price also brought to the attention of the Commission <br />a lobbying group called "Preservation Action" that at- <br />tempts to "get with" the politicians. <br />
