South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - May 19, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS
C. continued...
proposes to purchase Disposition Parcel
No. 16 at the southeast corner of Garst and
Lafayette for $12,000. This parcel contains
43,641 square feet, and was offered for sale
with a minimum bid price of $31,650.00.
Midwest Machine Products, Inc. proposes to
construct a 7,700 square foot building.
They are currently renting 3,200 square feet
in Monroe Park and need room to expand.
The proposed building will be a pre-
engineered metal building with masonry
wainscoting along the west and north walls
of the structure. The south wall of the
building will be an expansion wall, and will
not have wainscoting.
Midwest Machine is a precision aerospace
machine shop that manufactures bodies,
valves, farules, straighteners, and sleeves for
jet engine fuel control systems. The parts
are all small, hand -held pieces that are
predominently made of stainless steel, using
very small precision computer controlled
lathes. They have recently purchased four
additional computerized lathes, and will take
delivery of those machines, along with
hiring additional personnel, when they
complete the new building. While the
purchase price offered is lower than our
minimum bid price, the staff recommends
-5-
