South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - May 19, 1995
6. NEW BUSINESS
d. continued...
Ms. Auburn asked how long Absorbtech has
been in business. Mr. Trybula answered
that they have been in business in Wisconsin
for about 12 -14 years.
Mrs. Kolata explained that the Commission
is being asked to approve the tax abatement
application as an exception, recognizing that
it is the City Council that ultimately has the
authority to grant the abatement and the
special exception. The Commission's
approval signifies its willingness to release
the TIF it would otherwise recover if this
property were taxed, so the Commission is
not necessarily passing on the question of
whether the exception should be granted, but
should the Council grant it, the Commission
is releasing its claim on the taxes.
Upon a motion by Mr. Donoho, seconded
by Mr. Hojnacki and unanimously carried,
the Commission approved Resolution No.
1346, approving an application for real
property tax deduction for property located
at 3900 William Richardson Drive in the
Airport Economic Development Area
(Absorbtech).
e. Commission approval requested for
Certificate of Waiver for property located
at 403 N. Studebaker. (Earnest Jack and
Mary Reed)
Mrs. Kolata noted that this Certificate of
Waiver forgives $691.50 for each of two
years as of May 17, 1994 and 1995. Mrs.
-12-
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO
1346, APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR
REAL PROPERTY TAX DEDUCTION FOR
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3900 WILLIAM
RICHARDSON DRIVE IN THE AIRPORT
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AREA
(ABSORBTECH)
