In order to do this, they envision <br />the following steps: develop an anti - <br />prostitution and drug dealer program by <br />organizing block watches, preparing an <br />inventory of where prostitutes and drug <br />dealers live, and doing an informal <br />picketing of drug dealers' and prostitutes' <br />residences; reorganize neighborhood <br />watches and network existing <br />neighborhood watches for added strength; <br />push for enforcement of the curfew; <br />expand the program of providing locks and <br />security devices; begin a program of <br />community policing; organize bicycle and <br />foot patrols to increase interaction between <br />residents and the police force. <br />Ms. Marsh stressed again that steps have <br />been taken toward many of these goals <br />already. Neighborhood residents have <br />spent hundreds of hours in partnership <br />with the Redevelopment Commission, the <br />Common Council, South Bend Heritage, <br />and many other public and private <br />organizations. However, there is much <br />more to do. The Southeast Quality of Life <br />Neighborhood Association is determined to <br />realize the vision portrayed in this <br />Strategic Action Plan. They expect <br />continued partnership from these <br />organizations because what benefits the <br />Southeast Neighborhood will benefit South <br />Bend as a whole. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that she has read the <br />plan and was very impressed with it <br />IL -8- <br />
