SEQL first did a
neighborhood survey to identify
neighborhood human assets. Notre Dame
is compiling the data from that survey.
The Strategic Action Plan has identified
short term, mid term, and long term goals.
The short term goals are to set up block
captains and telephone trees to improve
communication within the neighborhood;
to organize crime alert calls that don't
endanger any single resident; to build
bridges with businesses and institutions in
the neighborhood; to encourage
intergeneration activities; and to foster
partnerships with private organizations to
develop longer range funding for
neighborhood needs.
The three -to- five -year goals of the
Strategic Action Plan are: to promote the
Southeast Neighborhood as a good place to
live and work; to sponsor neighborhood-
based activities to instill pride within the
neighborhood; and to develop a marketing
plan which will bring new business into
the neighborhood and, more importantly,
develop new businesses from within the
neighborhood.
Ms. Marsh stressed that the Strategic
Action Plan is not only a vision, there are
task forces already acting on many of the
goals outlined in the action plan.
IL
