API South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - October 21, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
p. continued...
Mr. Masters noted that it is the job of the
Redevelopment Commission to take land that
is not otherwise suitable for development
and make it marketable. Those utility
easements will need to be addressed by the
Commission in order for the land to be sold.
The Firefighter's Federal Credit Union's
revised proposal provides the Commission
with the up -front cash to move the utilities
from the vacated alley. The revised
proposal then asks the Commission to absorb
some of the costs that the Firefighter's
Federal Credit Union had intended to pay
for.
Mr. Masters noted that the Firefighter's
Federal Credit Union is prepared to move
ahead on this project as soon as the
Commission approves the proposal.
Mr. Fuelling displayed a schematic drawing
of the proposed project on Parcel 19. The
project allows for expansion on the south to
add additional drive -thru lanes and an ATM
machine and for a 16 foot addition to the
building on the north side. It is the 16 foot
addition to the building that requires the
relocation of the utilities.
Mr. Sharp noted that the Firefighter's
Federal Credit Union project is very nice.
He was concerned, however, with the cost
of moving the utilities. He asked if there
wasn't some latitude in the location of the
building and drives on the property so that
moving the utilities could be avoided.
ME
