South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - October 21, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
p. continued...
Mr. Fuelling responded that the intended
expansions limit the placement of the
building on the site.
Mr. Sharp questioned the need for the drive
on the south side of the project. Mr.
Fuelling explained that the drive is needed
for trash haulers. Removing that drive
would only remove 12 feet from the project.
With the expansions, the project would be
15 feet into the easements.
Ms. Auburn asked if the property would be
taxed if owned by the Firefighter's Federal
Credit Union. Mr. Masters responded that
it would be.
Mr. Piasecki asked if the building could be
reconfigured inside to allow for a different
footprint on the site. Mr. Fuelling
responded that the Firefighter's Federal
Credit Union had not looked at that
possiblity because they were trying to
conserve costs by using the building as it
exists. To change that, they would have to
resubmit their plans to the state for
approval.
Mr. Masters noted that since the
Commission's estimates for clearing Parcel
19 and demolishing and filling the basement
of the Policemen's Federal Credit Union are
more than the Firefighter's Federal Credit
Union's estimates, the Commission would be
further ahead to accept the original proposal
which called for the purchase of Parcel 19
for $20,000.
-10-
