South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - October 21, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
p. continued...
Lee Heppenheimer, representing Champion
Soft Water in their proposal, explained that
Mr. and Mrs. Pryor came into his office
three weeks ago asking for assistance finding
a site for relocating their business.
Champion Soft Water has been in business
for 10 years. The Pryors want a location on
Main Street because of the amount of traffic
that uses Main Street. When they contacted
the staff about the possiblity of making a
proposal for the land, they were told that
another proposal was already submitted and
would be considered by the Commission
soon. The staff suggested that Champion
Soft Water could also submit a proposal and
the Commission would consider both.
Champion Soft Water has tried to hurry
along the process in order to have more
information to present to the Commission,
but the timing of their interest has limited
their ability to provide the information
usually required in a proposal. They do
expect to construct a 5,000 square foot steel
building with a masonry front, similar to the
building Richard Allen has built at Main and
Broadway, but nicer.
Mr. Heppenheimer noted that Champion
Soft Water does not need the utility lines
moved because they will put a parking lot
over the vacated alley.
Mr. Pryor noted that he and his wife bring
value wherever they locate. They want to
locate in the City of South Bend. They
Sf!
