South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 4, 1994
5. OLD BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
moving the building ($22,000). The
Firefighters' Federal Credit Union will offer
$20,000 cash for Parcel 19 and will pay the
costs of site preparation on Parcel 19
($9,970) and the costs of moving the
Ameritech conduit ($7,600). This proposal
contemplates that the City will bear the cost
of moving the NIPSCO conduit which is
approximately $26,800 and the cost of
filling the foundation at 815 S. Lafayette
($3,000). He noted that, although the City
would have a net cost of approximately
$9,000 resulting from this proposal, the City
would have to maintain and ultimately
demolish the building at 815 S. Lafayette if
the Firefighters' Federal Credit Union did
not reuse the building. That demolition
would cost between $5,000 and $10,000.
Upon a motion by Mr. Donoho, seconded
by Mr. Sharp and unanimously carried, the
Commission awarded Parcel 19 in the
Studebaker Corridor portion of the Sample -
Ewing Development Area to the
Firefighters' Federal Credit Union and
agreed to sell the building at 815 S.
Lafayette to the Firefighters' Federal Credit
Union for $100.
Since the Commission reached agreement
with the Firefighters' Federal Credit Union,
the Commission did not consider the
proposal from Joseph Gorny for Parcel 19.
Mr. Gorny asked whether the Commission
was indeed selling Parcel 19 for a net loss
-5-
COMMISSION AWARDED PARCEL 19 IN THE
STUDEBAKER CORRIDOR PORTION OF THE
SAMPLE -EWING DEVELOPMENT AREA TO
THE FIREFIGHTERS' FEDERAL CREDIT
UNION AND AGREED TO SELL THE
BUILDING AT 815 S. LAFAYETTE TO THE
FIREFIGHTERS' FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
FOR $100
