South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - November 4, 1994
5. OLD BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
of Parcel 19 in the Studebaker Corridor
portion of the Sample -Ewing Development
Area. At that time, the Commission
directed the Firefighters' Credit Union to
negotiate with the staff to come up with a
revised offer that minimized the expense to
the City in order to develop the site.
Mrs. Kolata noted that, since the last
meeting, the staff has received two
proposals from Joseph E. Gorny for the
same site: one to purchase 33 feet of the
property adjacent to Mr. Gorny's property
for a cash price of $6,000; and the second
was to take title to the entire Parcel 19 in
exchange for property they own at 1111 S.
Michigan Street. The staff recommends
setting the Gorny's offer aside until the
Commission considers the counter offer
from the Firefighters' Federal Credit Union.
If the Commission cannot come to
agreement with the credit union it will
consider the Gorny offer.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the Firefighters'
Federal Credit Union has found a small
amount of additional money in their budget
and has received some revised cost estimates
for site preparation work and removal of the
basement of the old building. She asked
Mr. Masters to present the revised proposal.
Mr. Masters noted that the Firefighters'
Federal Credit Union is prepared to modify
its proposal by offering $100 for the
building at 815 S. Lafayette and the cost of
ANN
-4-
