South Bend Redevelopment Commission
'Zegular Meeting - February 4, 1994
f
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
c. continued...
want to take the time to do this, to go out of
their way. And to just enjoy it. You don't
see that any more. And I think that's
something you just need to know also. Come
by the house, in the spring, in the fall. How
well kept up it is. And what an honor it is to
live there. And for you people.... We're
keeping it up, we're making an impression,
we're making a statement —we're proud to be
there, we're proud of South Bend, and we're
staying. And you're taking that away from
us. Why? Why? As my sister mentioned,
with these other businesses, how are they
allowed to stay there? Is Real Services in the
blighted area? Are they a blighted place
then? How'd you come to pick and choose
these places? There's plenty of area besides
that section there that you can go around.
Answer our questions. This is what it is all
about. This is all we ask.
Ms. Auburn asked if there was anyone else
who wished to be heard. There was no one
else who wished to speak. Ms. Auburn
closed the public hearing.
Ms. Auburn recommended removing the
Polack property from the acquisition list of
the Development Plan in order that the plan
could be reviewed, further, to see if the plan
can move forward without the Polack
property. She agreed that the Commission
does not want to send the message that it is
not worthwhile to invest in property and
remain in South Bend.
.. -36-
