South Bend Redevelopment Commission
'tegular Meeting - February 4, 1994
Y
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
c. continued...
What kind of impression is this for people
coming into our city? And here you want to
build a detention center there. You know, I
don't think it's very impressive at all. That's
just my opinion. I plan to stay there, but
seeing what's going up on Michigan Street, I
don't like it. And the impression
that they might have coming into this city
what's already existing there? But isn't it
something that when we are out in the back
hanging clothes, working in the yard, that all
of a sudden some car will stop along the
way, in front of the house, taking pictures of
our home and the flowers. People are
actually standing on the side lot commenting
on how beautiful it is and what a beautiful
place it is on entering South Bend to see
something like it. That there's still
something left like it. And it's unusual that
people take the time, I mean they really must
-35-
