South Bend Redevelopment Commission
if regular Meeting - February 4, 1994
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
c. continued...
Mr. Sharp agreed that the Polacks are doing
in the community exactly what the
Commission likes to see families and
businesses do— investing in property and
remaining in the City of South Bend.
Mrs. Kolata responded to some of the
questions asked by the Polacks. The
condition of the Polack's house was not the
reason it was included on the acquisition list.
The finding of blight is for the area as a
whole. Not all properties in the blighted area
are blighted. We only included properties where
we want to assemble a parcel of land for
development. We did not include any
businesses on Sample Street. Nor are we
taking any properties on the north side of
Broadway. There are other viable businesses
along Michigan Street which are on the
acquisition list.
Mrs. Kolata noted that if the Commission
chooses to remove the Polack property from
the acquisition list, it must consider the
overall impact on the proposed projects for
-37-
