NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />f. continued... <br />being replicated in other parts of the state, <br />including the location of Stanley Coveleski <br />Regional Stadium in downtown South Bend, <br />the reopening of the East Race Waterway, <br />the neighborhood planning effort in several <br />of South Bend's older neighborhoods and the <br />master plan for the Airport 2010 project; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Jon, with innovation, planning, <br />leadership, and vision leveraged declining <br />federal funds through his vision of <br />establishing various not-for-profit <br />corporations to work cooperatively with <br />local government to achieve economic <br />development, housing rehabilitation, <br />downtown redevelopment and neighborhood <br />commercial district revitalization. Further, <br />through judicious use of declining public <br />dollars, Jon has been able to leverage <br />private investment through vehicles such as <br />the Business Development Corporation, <br />Urban Enterprise Association, Housing <br />Development Corporation, Center City <br />Associates, and the Neighborhood Business <br />Development Corporation that Jon was a <br />catalyst informing; and <br />WHEREAS, no challenge is too great to <br />discourage Jon. His long range planning, <br />his eternal optimism and his indefatigable <br />nature keep the City of South Bend moving <br />forward; and <br />WHEREAS, it is almost impossible to <br />describe the dedication of Jon Hunt to his <br />-5- <br />
