South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - February 23, 1990
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
h. continued...
Mr. imtz: We'll hear from the opponents
first. Is there anyone who opposes the
res lution who desires to be heard?
Mr. Newbill: I happened to come in just
a hair late. I don't know what the
res lution says.
Mrs. Kolata: The resolution incorporates
the study that was done by the
professional consultants, Terkla,
Pettigrew, Allen and Payne, last year.
It hrings that entire study into the Plan
and says this is part of our plan for the
area. Secondly, it amends the
acquisition list by listing a number of
pror, exties. Previously, we did not have
any properties on the list of properties
to ke acquired. This adds approximately
50 properties, the 1200 and 1300 blocks
of West Washington, to the list of
prorerties to be acquired. That's what
the resolution states and that is what
the purpose of the Public Hearing is:
whelier or not the Commission should
ado t this resolution as it is presently
Mr. Nimtz: Mr. Newbill, those of you who
ad ess the Commission, I'd like you to
give your name and address.
Mr. Newbill: Bobby Newbill, property
omer at 1306 West Washington Street. I
wouldn't want to change my opinion now
about the plan as proposed by the WWCRP.
I wculd like to state that this plan is a
wholesale elimination of all of the
mincrity commercial property owners in
the 1200 block of West Washington. The
concern of mine, and of other members in
the neighborhood as well as some of the
individuals being eliminated from that
near west side area. So we are still
opposed to that.
-12-
