South Bend F
Regular Meet
6. NEW BUS]
elopment Comnission
- February 23, 1990
(Cont.)
h. cont inued...
Mrs. Kolata: That concludes our
pr entation.
Mr. Piasecki: Where is this property
Mr. Norris: It was part of my
presentation. Right here. (Mr. Norris
pointed to a property on the north side
of Washington Street, just west of Elm
Str t.) The plan for the neighborhood
does not call for total demolition of all
prorerty along the 1200 and 1300 blocks
of West Washington. There are some
questions. One of those is the Tudor
style building on the northwest corner of
Walnut and Washington. The old Nyikos'
Bar is one that is under consideration as
to uhether it can be reused. Also, the
buildings down here. (Mr. Norris pointed
to the properties west of Elm Street.)
There are some questionable properties
that the WWCRP Board wants to take a
closer look at to see exactly what might
be the best use.
Mr. noho: Wasn't there a bowling
alley, six lanes in the Nyikos' Bar? Is
that still there? Have you been inside
it?
rris: No, I have not. I've never
of it.
:)noho: That was my grandfather's.
used to be a bowling alley in
ewbill: My mother owns that.
ionoho: Really. My mother is Anita
s. Do they still have the lanes in
n
Ms. ewbill: No, there's a barber shop
in the front.
-11-
