South Bend edevelopment Commission <br />Regular Sch duled Meeting - May 27, 1988 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />c. Continued... <br />scheduling, and local, state, and federal <br />rev'ews. The estimated fee for these <br />services is $9,920 in their standard form <br />of contract. The staff recommends <br />acceptance of this proposal. <br />Mr. Piasecki asked about the likelihood <br />of a barrier between the walkway and the <br />apartment project. Mrs. Kolata responded <br />that Can -Am prefers to have no barrier <br />and if one is necessary, for it to be <br />lan scapinq. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Donoho, seconded by <br />Mr. Combs and unanimously carried, the <br />Comnission approved the proposal and <br />con ract with Lawson- Fisher Associates <br />for engineering services related to the <br />East Bank Walkway. <br />d. Commission approval requested for lease <br />with Communique Advertisinq. <br />Mrs Kolata noted that Communique <br />Advertising does business as Sheffer <br />Advertising at 115 W. Colfax. We have <br />had a lease with them for a number of <br />years for a portion of the parking lot <br />behind their building. They did the <br />landscaping along the lot, they maintian <br />it, pay taxes on it and, in exchange, use <br />it for their parking during business <br />hours and it is open for public parking <br />during non - business hours. It benefits <br />the Morris Civic Auditorium and all the <br />events that take place in that block. <br />The lease is for one dollar per year from <br />May 1, 1988 until termination, with a 30 <br />day cancellation clause. They must <br />pro tide proof to the City of a million <br />dol ars worth of liability insurance. <br />Upom a motion by Mr. Combs, seconded by <br />Mr. Donoho and unanimously carried, the <br />Co ssion approved the lease with <br />Co unique Advertising. <br />-5- <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE PROPOSAL <br />AND CONTRACT WITH LAWSON- FISHER <br />ASSOCIATES FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES <br />RELATED TO THE EAST BANK WALKWAY <br />COMMISSION APPROVED THE LEASE <br />WITH COMMUNIQUE ADVERTISING <br />
