South Bend
Regular Sd
6. NEW BU
b. Co.
C.
velopment Commission
ed Meeting - May 13, 1988
(Cont.)
one is the end of July, we would have a
bond sale in late August and construction
woul be postponed until fall.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the Authority had
authorized the Request for Proposals from
local and out -of -town banks to serve as
Trustee for the bonds.
Mr. Nimtz indicated that the Commission
expects the construction of the garage to
fulfill the needs of tenants in the new
downtown office buildings and the
downtown area in general.
Upon a motion by Mr. Donoho, seconded by
Mr, oombs and unanimously carried, the
Commission approved Resolution No. 844.
ssion approval requested for
with Ken Herceq &
Mrs. Kolata explained the requested
Amendment. The original design for Niles
Avenue included one -way traffic north
from Jefferson St. to Washington St. and
two-way traffic the rest of the distance.
At a March 1 public meeting on the
proposed design, there was strong public
sentiment against the one -way proposal.
We would like Ken Herceg to do the design
work required to maintain the two -way
traffic. Mr. Herceg will charge us at an
hourly rate not to exceed an additional
$7,000. Another suggested alteration to
the proposal which we would like to
consider is the extension of the
improvements north to Corby St. instead
of tle originally proposed stopping point
Of C dar St. There may not be funds to
do the additional work at the time of the
budgeted construction, but we would like
to have the design work done at this
time The cost of this additional design
work would also be charged at an hourly
-5-
COMMISSION APPROVED RESOLUTION NO.8441
