OLD BUSINESS
a. Co mission approval requested for
pexpetual easement from the Salvation
Arn v.
Mr. Nimtz disqualified himself from
ch iring the discussion because of his
po ition on the Board of Salvation Army.
He deferred to Ms. Auburn, Vice
Pr sident.
Mr. Hunt explained that the Redevelopment
st ff had asked the Salvation Army to
grant an easement to the City for the
pu pose of landscaping. Ms. Matthews
ex lained the easement would be for the
pr perty immediately north of the
ex anded building to the existing Monroe
St eet right -of -way. Mr. Piasecki asked
wh we would be doing landscaping on
private property. Mrs. Kolata noted that
wh n Salvation Army presented their plans
to the Design Review Committee, they
pr posed that the building be brick
facing Main Street and metal on the other
th ee sides. The Design Review Committee
re uired that they incur the additional
ex ense of using brick on the Monroe
St eet side also. Our offer to landscape
is an attempt to offset that additional
ex ense, as well as a preference to have
thE landscaping be further from the
st eet edge than in the right -of -way.
Ms. Matthews indicated that the expected
co Et to us is approximately $2,000.
Up n a motion by Mr. Combs, seconded by
Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the
-5-
COMMISSION APPROVED THE USE OF
THE PARKING LOT FOR SPECIAL
OLYMPICS VOLUNTEERS
COMMISSION APPROVED REQUESTED
PERPETUAL EASEMENT FROM THE
SALVATION ARMY
