Con <br />elopment Commission <br />- April 25, 1986 <br />(Cont.) <br />conj ction with acquisition within the South <br />Bend Central Development Area as listed above. <br />a. South Bend Heritage - Monroe Park <br />Mr. unt noted that the Commission and staff <br />have been discussing the next phase in the <br />MonrDe Park area. To date there has been <br />exte sive development in the light industrial <br />area, rehabilitation of housing units, and <br />publ'c works activities. South Bend Heritage <br />has en working for some time on the next <br />phas of new residential construction within <br />the rea. <br />Mr. �ff eve Luecke and Jeff Gibney were present <br />ass of South Bend Heritage. <br />Mr. Luecke noted that he was present as a <br />staff member of South Bend Heritage, Director <br />of t e Monroe Park office, and also a member <br />of tie Board of Directors of the Monroe Park <br />Development Corporation which is a new group <br />just recently incorporated that, in <br />part ership with South Bend Heritage, will <br />work to continue the redevelopment of the <br />residential area within Monroe Park. South <br />Bend Heritage, after many long years of effort <br />in t e neighborhood, is ready to kick -off <br />construction of new single family homes. <br />Mr. Luecke noted on a map that about 40% of <br />the Lots in Monroe Park are vacant. For the <br />stab'lity of the neighborhood, South Bend <br />Heritage, along with the City's Community <br />Development and Redeveloment staffs, feel it <br />is important to fill in some of the vacant <br />lots. Mr. Luecke pointed out the targeted <br />area within the center of the neighborhood <br />that will be concentrated on for new <br />construction. He pointed out lots owned by <br />Souti Bend Heritage and additional lots that <br />they are interested in for the new phase of <br />the construction project.
