NEW <br />a. <br />Redevelopment Commission <br />ting - April 26, 1985 <br />( font . ) <br />Redevelopment Commission <br />City of South Bend <br />Monroe Park Neighbors <br />te: April 26, 1985 <br />Burger Dairy Store Proposed Zoning <br />Change; Proposed Use of Property <br />at Southeast Corner of South and <br />Columbia Streets (Max's Grocery) <br />Following are comments expressed by Monroe <br />P rk residents when polled regarding their <br />opinions on the above proposals. <br />1 In regard to a proposed change in zoning which <br />would permit Burger Dairy to construct their <br />building 16 feet from the street rather than <br />the mandated 25 feet: <br />"...as long as you can still see around the <br />corner." <br />"Where is the parking ?" "Basically makes no <br />difference." <br />"Will this allow sufficient room for a tree <br />lawn /landscaping to surround the lot ?" <br />In addition, the following general comments <br />were expressed regarding the Burger Dairy <br />Store: <br />"...hope it won't be a video <br />hangout—however, like Burger Dairy, have <br />lived near one before." "Will it be open 24 <br />hours ?" <br />"...Hope there is no harsh lighting - bright <br />lights in back would flood bedrooms with <br />light. There should, however, be some <br />lights..." <br />2 In regard to the three proposals for use of <br />the property at South and Columbia Streets, <br />the neighbors feel that the Colonial Catering <br />proposal has the greatest chance for financial <br />success and neighborhood acceptance. We were <br />pleased with plans detailing the completed <br />structure.
